Gas Fireplace Pilot Light Problems

A pilot that will not stay lit can involve contamination, flame position, thermocouple or thermopile output, venting conditions, wiring, the gas valve, or an electronic ignition component. The flame and safety circuit need proper testing.

What matters during diagnosis

Tell us whether the fireplace uses a standing pilot or electronic ignition.
A weak, lifting, yellow, or unstable pilot flame needs inspection before continued use.
Do not bypass a thermocouple, thermopile, spill switch, pressure switch, or other safety control.
Send the rating plate and a clear photo of the pilot area if it is safely visible through the glass.
